Finding Inspiration & Motivation! What pumps you up?
Most days we wake up, eat breakfast, shower, get ready, and we’re out the door. The routine is down to a science for most of us during the work week. Then there’s the long workout you promised yourself, but you wake up and just don’t feel like doing it. Or maybe that volunteer event that you’ve known you’ve had for weeks, and you’d just rather stay in bed. Finally, the Sunday where you know you have a million errands to run and the weight of work week weighing on you.
I know for myself, these are the mornings and times when I struggle to find inspiration and motivation to keep me chugging along. And often, I feel defeated and want to throw my hands in the air in frustration… So how do we push past this!?
What can we do each day to find motivation/inspiration to keep kicking butt no matter what Murphy’s Law throws at us? I’ve decided to compile a list of things that help me stay grinding when the days seem long and the going gets tough.
Thankfully, LinkedIn provides a list of honorees who not only post awesome business savvy content that range from Education, Technology, Finance, Culture, Marketing, etc. They start conversations on topics that are hard to debate and shed awareness on trending topics in their respective fields. Sometimes reading another individuals perspective can help shift your own and give us a new outlook on the day.
Another fantastic way to get your motivational consumption for the day, Twitter! There are so many fantastic accounts that provide you with that one quote that you relate to for the day. Or – specific writers/journalists/yoga practitioners/artists/news outlets that you’re able to keep up with, with only 140 characters. Forbes did us a HUGE favor by providing us with a list of 25 individuals (suggested, do a little researching to find some on your own) that they believe we should be keeping up with.
If the internet isn’t your style, and you have no time to dig through advertisements and irrelated content… Consider a mantra. Take a moment in the morning, once you wake up or before you walk into the office – and repeat a statement daily. You can create your own mantra or empowerment state or check out the link above to get some ideas.
Like mantras, daily quotes can be an awesome source of inspiration. There are so many books you can purchase with endless pages of quotes – each with a different message for the day. For example, Domonique Bertolucci has a collection of books with quotes targeting a specific idea. They range from confidence, to happiness, from kindness to simplifying life! There are countless authors with similar context.
When all else fails – turn to this inspirational speech video of all time to get you amped for a productive day.
