Launch Site Leads at SMC - LA AFB, El Segundo, CA

One of our clients is looking for Four (4) Launch Site Leads with a goverment clearance (minimum Secret).
In addition to the Launch Site Lead we are also recruting for a Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and a Certification Lead
(see brief descriptions below).
 

1) Launch Site Lead (full description):

The position supports the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base.

The candidate will lead the certification of New Entrant Launch Service Providers.

DUTIES & DESCRIPTION:

· Responsible for reporting certification results to senior PMs and customer representatives

· Lead a multi-discipline engineering team consisting of propulsion, structural, avionics, manufacturing and quality engineers

· Manage team interfaces with the government customer, FFRDC, and contractors.

· Participate in major reviews for the launch system and major sub-systems

· Continually assess Launch Service Provider (LSP).

REQUIREMENTS:

· BS/BA and 10 years leadership/management required

· Demonstrated experience in launch systems design, testing, manufacturing, and operations.

· Knowledge of SMC/industry launch systems standards.

· Experience interfacing with computer-based database and schedule tools

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Some CONUS travel required

PREFERRED:

· BS+MS degree in Engineering, Math, or Physical Sciences

2) Quality Engineering Lead (short description):
Oversee and conduct assessments and evaluations/ audits of manufacturing products and processes per applicable military and industry/commercial quality standards such as AS9100D and SMC-S-003(T)

  • Document these results/findings for government review and concurrence, in accordance with Manufacturing and Quality industry standards
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineer Lead, System Engineers, and Project Engineers to develop and conduct process audits, identify and track risks and risk mitigation plans
  • Oversee, lead, and direct these functions across the Quality Engineering team in multiple CONUS locations.


3) Manufacturing Engineering Lead (short description):
12 years of experience launch vehicle/space sub-system and process engineering expertise with a strong background in launch vehicle solid rocket motor propulsion systems and components preferred

  • Work with launch vehicle provider to schedule and track audits to be performed during rocket certification activities
  • Develop products such data tables, audit checklists, presentations, and reports status to the customer


4) Certification Lead (short description):
Lead a multi-discipline engineering team consisting of propulsion, structural, avionics, manufacturing and quality engineers

  • Manage team interfaces with the government customer, FFRDC, and contractors.
  • Participate in major reviews for the launch system and major sub-systems
  • Continually assess Launch Service Provider (LSP).
