Geospatial Database Manager

Geospatial Database Manager who wants to help take our geospatial solutions to the next level. We are looking for the best and brightest to join our team.  This position is available in Herndon, VA or St. Louis, MO. Remote locations will be considered for highly qualified candidates. The Database Manager will be joining a team that is enhancing, improving, and re-purposing an emerging collaborative mapping system. The team is comprised of highly-motivated engineers and analysts who are constantly developing new features and workflows in response to a dynamic/evolving set of customer requirements, while at the same time ensuring the deployment system continues to meet all of the customer’s operational and quality needs.

  •  Collaborate daily with cross-functional internal and external team members and occasional third party vendors
  • Design, develop, and regularly support an architecture built for geospatial feature extraction, conflation, exploitation, and quality workflows
  • Gather requirements, determine scope, and estimate hours needed to develop and deliver custom geospatial analytic solutions to our internal and government customers
  • Identify and implement improvements to system designs and processing methodologies to improve efficiency, scale, reliability and mitigate operational risk
  • Write procedures, methods, workflow documents and standard operating processes
  • Advise, train, mentor and learn from other team members on technical topics


Qualifications
 

  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise level geospatial database systems
  • Experience with ESRI, PostgreSQL, PostGIS ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, Oracle, and AWS
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple programming languages
  • Experience leading a team with the ability to prioritize and balance tasks based on both long term and short term goals
  • Experience managing spatial and relational databases and topographic feature data for standard or non-standard NGA feature datasets
  • Experience leveraging OpenStreetMap and other open source data
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment as an individual contributor on a transparent and agile team
  • Excel at leading innovation


A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Geographic Information Science (GIS) or related field preferred or the equivalent combination education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
5+ years work experience designing, managing, and scaling enterprise solutions
