Looking for an experienced and creative Geospatial Quality Solutions Engineer who wants to help take our geospatial solutions to the next level. We are looking for the best and brightest to join our team in Herndon, VA or St. Louis, MO. The Quality Solutions Engineer will be joining a team that is enhancing, improving, and re-purposing an emerging collaborative mapping system. The team is comprised of highly-motivated engineers and analysts who are constantly developing new features and workflows in response to a dynamic/evolving set of customer requirements, while at the same time ensuring the deployment system continues to meet all of the customer’s operational and quality needs.
- Collaborate daily with cross-functional internal and external team members
- Design, develop, and support testing of quality workflows and data validation for geospatial feature extraction, conflation, data exploitation, and assessment
- Document procedures, methods, and standard operating processes
- Advise, train, mentor, and learn from other team members on technical topics
- Lead user-focused information sharing sessions
Qualifications
- Extensive experience evaluating and validating standard and non-standard topographic feature datasets for adherence to customer quality expectations for accuracy, completeness, and currency
- Development and maintenance of data validation rulesets
- Expertise in the application of metadata requirements and data finishing principles
- Familiarity with various NSG, NGA, and MGCP schemas including data conversion and ETL processes
- Building processes and workflows for assessing geospatial data for the purpose of developing data recommendations
- Experience reviewing and validating MGCP and finished products a plus
- Experience leveraging OpenStreetMap and other open source data is desired
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment as an individual contributor on a transparent and agile team
- Experience leading a small team with the ability to prioritize and balance tasks based on both long term and short term goals
- Experience with ArcSDE, ArcMap, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and GAIT concepts and best practices
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Geographic Information Science (GIS) or related field preferred or the equivalent combination education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
5+ years work experience reviewing and validating GIS data and databases
